[origin: WO0223296A1] The invention relates to a method of and an apparatus for guiding automated vehicles, particularly in a mine environment. The invention provides for an assembly for and method of providing a simulated towing action for automated vehicles. The assembly comprises a towing vehicle, an automated vehicle including drive means, steering actuation means and a controller connected to the drive and steering actuation means for control thereof, a tow frame towed behind the towing vehicle, and guiding means mounted on the tow frame and the automated vehicle for providing information to the controller of the relative spacing and orientation of the automated vehicle relative to the tow frame, whereby the controller controls the automated vehicle to cause the automated vehicle to follow the path travelled by the towing vehicle, and wherein the tow frame ensures adequate spacing between the towing vehicle and the automated vehicle. The invention also provides for a tow frame for use in an assembly comprising a towing vehicle and an automated vehicle intended to follow the towing vehicle in a manner of a simulated tow.
