The relay contact element has a bearer element (11) and a contact rivet, whereby the rivet hole in the bearer element has lateral bulges (14) and the rivet shaft (17) is more compressed in defined edge regions than in its inner region. The rivet shaft is more compressed in its edge regions that are aligned with the bulges in the rivet hole. <??>AN Independent claim is also included for the following: a method of making an electrical contact between a contact rivet and a bearer element and a piston for use in the inventive method.

Ein Kontaktelement, etwa eine Relais-Kontaktfeder 11, weist ein mit seitlichen Ausbuchtungen 14 versehenes Nietloch 13 auf, durch das der Nietschaft 17 eines Kontaktniets 15 geschoben wird. Anschließend wird der Nietschaft 17 in entsprechenden Randbereichen mittels eines speziell geformten Stempels 18 stärker gestaucht als in seinem Innenbereich. Damit entsteht eine formschlüssige Verbindung zwischen Kontaktfeder 11 und Niet 15 mit guter mechanischer Belastbarkeit und verbesserter thermischer und elektrischer Leitfähigkeit. <IMAGE>
