[origin: EP1321600A2] Awning comprises an extendable profile (3) fixed to the awning material (2) which is wound on a shaft (1). When completely or partly extended the awning material can be raised by a support construction to form a roof shape, especially a saddle roof shape, having at least one front and one rear surface. Rainwater flowing off the front surface flows toward the retractable profile and rainwater flowing off the rear surface flows toward the awning holder. <??>Preferred Features: The uppermost part of the support construction is a ridge bar (12) arranged parallel to the retractable profile and lying over the awning material. The ridge bar can be raised by extendable awning arms (4) on whose outer ends the retractable profile is fixed.
