[origin: WO0226507A1] The invention relates to a method for personalising luminescent marks of authenticity on all types of data carriers, in particular plastic cards. According to said method, in a first step, a luminescent mark of authenticity is inserted into or applied to the card composite and in a second step, the mark of authenticity is personalised using a high-energy beam, (e.g. a laser beam). The intensity and/or the wavelength of the beam is selected in such a way that the structure of the mark of authenticity is locally bleached. Said structure of the mark of authenticity is thus modified locally in such a way that the lettering inscribed by the personalisation process appears as a negative image when the mark of authenticity is luminescent.
