Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0214564A1] A method for producing a briquette as a material for steel making, which comprises subjecting a cotton-like coagulated material (B) comprising grinding chips of an iron based metal and a grinding fluid containing an oil and water to a compression molding to form a brittle formed body (C) wherein fibrous grinding chips are roughly cut and excessive water and oil are removed, pulverizing the brittle formed body (C) to further cut finely the grinding chips, and admixing a solidifying aid (D) to prepare a powder (E) containing the solidifying aid (D), solidifying the powder (E) through compression molding to prepare a moist briquette (F), removing the moisture in the moist briquette (F) to thereby produce a briquette (A) as a material for steel making which contains powdery pure iron and an oil; and another method for producing a briquette (A) as a material for steel making, which comprises impregnating the above brittle formed body (C), without pulverizing it, with a solidifying aid (D) and then drying the resulting product.
