Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0231860A1] A lamp (1) for an explosion-proof lighting unit comprises at least one inner lamp (3), which is encapsulated inside a jacket (2) in an explosion-proof manner, and comprises a lamp socket (4) that is electrically connected thereto. An insulating space (5), which is formed between the jacket (2) and the inner lamp (3), is at least partially evacuated of air. The aim of the invention is to further improve a lamp (1) of this type such that the temperature of the lighting unit and, particularly, of the inner lamp (3) is reliably and rapidly reduced in the instance that the vacuum inside the insulating space (5) ceases to exist whereby preventing an explosion. To this end, at least one pressure and/or temperature sensor (6, 7) is assigned to the insulating space (5). Said pressure and/or temperature sensor is connected to an interrupter circuit (8) provided for interrupting the power supply to the lamp (1) when a pressure or a temperature greater than a respectively predetermined maximum value is detected.
