Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1325694A2] Chair comprises a base, a seat support (4), a seat (5), a back rest, an energy storing device for mutual adjustment of the back rest and seat, a spring abutment (34) for adjustably damping the relative pivoting movement of the seat support parts (12, 13), an adjusting element extending tangentially to the pivot axis (20) and rotating about an adjusting element axis of rotation (52) to change the pre-tension between the spring abutment and a seat support part, and an operating handle (25) connected to the adjusting element and rotating about a handle axis of rotation (53) to rotate the adjusting element by hand. The operating handle is connected via a coupling element to the adjusting element to transfer a rotational movement. The axis of rotation of the adjusting element and of the handle are not in alignment. Preferred Features: The adjusting element is an adjusting screw (36). The coupling element is a flexible shaft (54).
