The device comprises a working system for cutting and/or plucking hair, this working system being connected to a housing and having two working elements which can be moved in relation to each other and at least one of which is driven; and at least one illumination device for illuminating the working system or illuminating through the working system. According to the invention, at least one illuminating device is integrated in at least one of the working elements.
