[origin: WO0232103A1] The invention concerns a data transmission system for data exchange between a first device consisting of a telephone extension and a communicating pen computer, both connected to the telephone network, and a second device likewise consisting of a telephone extension and a communicating pen computer, said communicating pen computers being of the type comprising a touch-sensitive screen addressable with a stylus. Each pen computer comprises a card reader for receiving a plurality of smart cards (15), each of which enabling to generate a specific application, to manage data and to configure the screen (2) of the communicating pen computer, time or frequency multiplexing means for simultaneously transmitting voice signals supplied by the telephone extension and data supplied by the communicating pen computer. Such a system enables to prepare, transmit, receive and manage messages in written form, optionally during a telephone conversation, and to implement numerous applications generated by the smart cards (15).
