Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1327706A2] The adapter has a flange (11) to connect it to the motor (3) and a similar flange (10) to mount it on the machine. The drive is taken through a shaft (20) that carries a brake disk (22). The brake is operated when current supplying electro-magnets (24) fails and a spring disk (23) is released against the brake disk. The brake components are supported from the machine mounting flange (10) so that inertia forces during braking are not transmitted to the motor (3). The adapter includes a flexible coupling (31) to allow for any misalignment. The shaft (20) can be connected to the machine by a clamp (33) or it can carry a drive gear.
