Device for spreading material comprises a material container (1) with a material application opening and a material conveyor (4) in the form of a conveyor belt on which a material carpet (11) is fed from the material container through the material application opening to a material distributor. A material carpet comminuting device (5) is provided outside the material container and in front of the conveying end of the conveyor belt. An Independent claim is also included for a winter service vehicle comprising the above device. Preferred Features: The material carpet comminuting device is arranged on the conveying end of the conveyor belt and consists of a comminuting roller.

Zum Aufbrechen eines mittels einem Förderband aus einem Streustoffbehälter geförderten, verklumpten Streustoffteppichs ist außerhalb des Streustoffbehälters und vor dem Förderende des Förderbands eine Zerkleinerungswalze (5) vorgesehen. Die Zerkleinerungswalze (5) läuft zwangsgefördert auf dem Förderband mit und besitzt eine Anzahl von Zerkleinerungsstäben (6), die zwischen zwei Laufrädern (10) schraubenförmig in der Mantelfläche der Zerkleinerungswalze (5) angeordnet sind. <IMAGE>
