[origin: WO0235690A1] A linear motor is provided with a secondary piece (1), comprising several permanent magnets (4), arranged one after the other, with alternating orientation of the polarity or the exciter coils thereof. Said permanent magnets (4) or exciter coils are wound helically around the rotating axis. Furthermore, a primary piece (2) is provided the current carrying winding (3) of which is parallel to the permanent magnets (4) or exciter coils and is arranged around the rotating axis such that a magnetic travelling wave field, travels helically around the rotating axis.
