Abstract (en)
[origin: DE19908708A1] The wires (210) on card flats are ground by flexible grinding elements mounted on a rotating brush roller. In addition to the longer elements (201) which penetrate between the wires and grind their sides, the rollers carry shorter elements (202) to grind the ends of the wires (210). Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) the use of flexible bristle-shaped grinding elements of different length to grind the sides and tops of wire, especially hooked card wire; (b) an installation for controlling the applied force during the grinding operation, especially by spring or pneumatic loading.
