[origin: EP1329413A1] Strands (7) are formed by bundling in parallel a plurality of wires of high-strength synthetic fiber. The plurality of strands (7) are thus bundled, and a surface cladding layer (8) of wear-and-abrasion-resistant synthetic resin is provided for covering outer circumferential surfaces of the strands, thus constituting a hoist rope (2). Members to be suspended (3), (4) are suspended by means of the hoist rope (2) of such a construction, thus towing the members by way of a driving sheave (1). As a result, deformation of the hoist rope (2) is diminished, and the strength of the rope can be maintained, and hence a suspension reliability characteristic of the rope is improved. <IMAGE>
