Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0237791A1] The invention relates to a field bus system (10; 12), for the control of safety-critical processes, comprising a transmission medium (14; 16) and a number of bus users (18, 20, 22; 24, 26, 28), connected to the transmission medium (14; 16), whereby the bus users (18, 20, 22; 24, 26, 28) can send bus telegrams (46; 50) to each other by means of the transmission medium (14; 16), for the purpose of communicating with each other. Said field bus system (10; 12) is characterised in that the transmission medium (14; 16) comprises an open communication channel and that the communication protocol contains an individual system identifier (38, 40, 48; 42, 44, 52), connected to at least each of the bus telegrams (46; 50) which are sent over the open communication channel (14; 16).
