[origin: EP1331026A1] The ski or snowboard (1) has a main part, such as a body or base (2), fitted with additional side pieces (3a, 3b) set in edge recesses that have surfaces pointing upwards (HA) and outwards (EX), but not downwards (BA). The width and depth of the recesses vary along their length, being greatest in the middle of the ski and reducing towards the front and rear ends. The additional side pieces are of similarly varying section; they project slightly above the edges of the recesses, and have a length equivalent to 30 - 60 per cent of the length of the base. They can incorporate transverse flexible or shock absorbing elements.
