Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0238070A1] The invention relates to a medical, preferably dental, handpiece (10),, for treating tissue with high frequency mechanical vibrations. Said handpiece comprises a housing (11) which contains a neck section (12) and a head section (14). Arranged in the housing thereof is a vibration generator (22). Said generator operates a tool (38) via a coupling body (26) arranged in a head section (14) of the handpiece (10), whose direction of movement is essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the neck section (12). According to the invention, the vibration generator (22) can also be arranged in the head section (14) of the handpiece (10).
