Method for measuring the diameter of a rod or strand shaped tobacco product (28) in which the measurements are taken at regular intervals along the axis of the rod or strand product as it is moved in the direction of its longitudinal axis. Independent claims are also made for: (1) a method for producing rod-type tobacco product in which the diameter of the product is adjusted according to regular measurements of said diameter; (2) a device for diameter measurement.

Beschrieben werden ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Messen des Durchmessers eines strang- oder stabförmigen Erzeugnisses (28) der Tabak verarbeitenden Industrie, insbesondere eines ungeschnittenen, bereits getrimmten und mit Umhüllungsmaterial versehenen Tabakstranges (28), bei welchem der Durchmesser des strang- oder stabförmigen Erzeugnisses (28) gemessen und ein entsprechendes Messsignal (88) erzeugt wird, wobei das strang- oder stabförmige Erzeugnis (28) während der Messung in längsaxialer Richtung bewegt wird. Dabei werden Messsignale (88) erzeugt, die den Durchmesser an definierten, diskreten Messstellen entlang des strang- oder stabförmigen Erzeugnisses (28) angeben. <IMAGE>
