Abstract (en)
A calender (1) has a heated drum (2) with a flexible plastic mantle (3) resting under pressure (6) in contact with a lower drum (4) mantle (3). A wide nip (5) is defined by the upper (2) and lower (4) drums. The mantle (3) esp. is of greater thickness over the working width (A) than in the peripheral zones (R). The working zone (A) and peripheral zones (R) are separated by a transition zone (U) in which the mantle (3) thickness continually increases. The mantle surface is straight over the width of the working zone (A). The mantle (3) is supported at each end by discs (11) which can be displaced radially. The mantle inner surface is straight over the entire width (R + A + R). The mantle is supported axially over its entire width by a beam (8) with end-discs. The mantle centre-section is supported internally by a lift-shoed (16) which is synchronised with the press jack (6).

Es wird ein Kalander (1) angegeben mit einer beheizten Walze (2) und einem flexiblen Mantel (3), der unter der Wirkung einer Andruckanordnung (6) über einen vorbestimmten Umfangsbereich an der Walze (2) anliegt, wobei zwischen der Walze (2) und dem Mantel (3) ein Breitnip (5) ausgebildet ist. Man möchte die Belastung des Mantels (3) verringern können. Hierzu weist der Mantel (3) in einem Arbeitsbereich (A), der zwischen zwei axialen Randbereichen (R) angeordnet ist, eine größere Dicke als in den Randbereichen (R) auf und steht im Arbeitsbereich (A) radial über die Randbereiche (R) vor. <IMAGE>
