Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0237762A1] The invention concerns a telecommunication method whereby a multicast information is transmitted from a terminal or from a server towards a plurality of addressees, said transmissions being carried out according to an IP-type protocol, a control member such as a router being designed to detect the presence of at least an addressee. The method consists in providing an addressee (72), or at most, a limited number of such addressees, a representative function for a group. Said addressee periodically transmits a presence signal (62) to the control member (54). Said method can be used in a satellite telecommunication system. It requires less signalling than the IGMP protocol.
