Abstract (en)
The vehicle door lock provides both electrical operation and mechanical operation, the second system being capable of disengagement from the lock. A low power motor is provided for operation, and a mechanical system may be engaged to operate the lock when the motor system cannot cope. The vehicle door lock provides both electrical operation and mechanical operation, the two processes being independent of each other. The mechanical operation may be engaged, or disengaged from the door lock. In normal operation the lock is operated by an electric motor (28), but if the lock is damaged or degraded, then the mechanical system is engaged. The motor for normal operation is sized for normal operation of the lock, and is not over-sized to cope with possible operation in damaged conditions. A second emergency motor (44) is provided in order to engage the mechanical linkage. This motor is of much lower power than the main motor, operating only to engage the mechanism.
Abstract (fr)
<IMAGE>
