[origin: WO0242194A1] The invention concerns a method for mounting a cable drum flange consisting of an assembly of wooden segments (2A) placed adjacent to one another to form a disc and a U-shaped rim (4). Said method is characterised in that, to form the flange, it consists in: closing the rim (4); positioning one after the other the segments such that the outer end is engaged in the groove of the rim; prior to inserting the last segment, exerting on the assembly of mounted segments, a force in the plane of the disc to compress the segments and clear a free space with an angle greater than that of the segment to be inserted; then engaging the outer end of the last segment into the groove of the rim followed by the inner end; and as quickly as possible, after the outer end of the last segment has been engaged, in releasing the compression.
