Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1336484A1] The plug-type connection part (40) in the support device (8) for the washing unit (6) contains a closure body (46) for sealing the fluid channel in the connection part, the closure body being urged into the closed position by a spring (48). The plug-type connection part (36) in the washing unit includes an actuator part for moving the closure body into the open position when the two connection parts are joined together. Disconnecting the two connection parts will cause the spring to automatically urge the closure body back into the closed position. The washing device is used to mechanically clean the surface (2) of the rotating cylinder (4) and comprises a washing unit which acts as a support for a washing part (12) and contains a fluid line (34) with a plug-type connection part at one end for attaching to the washing unit and with at least one fluid outlet (38) at the other end for supplying fluid onto the washing part. The washing unit can be moved into a working position inside a support device in the direction of the cylinder surface. The plug-type connection part provided on or attachable to the support device is automatically connected to the plug-type connection part in the washing unit when the latter is moved into the working position and is automatically disconnected from the connection part when the washing unit is moved away from its working position. The fluid channels in the two connection parts are in communication with each other when these two parts are connected together.
