Small waterplane area twin hull (SWATH) pilot boat comprises a hull body (10) having at least two floats (14, 15) arranged below the waterline on the lower end of two supports (12, 13) attached to the hull body. One support is fixed to the starboard side and one support is fixed to the port side of the hull body. At least one ballast tank (20, 21) independent of the ballast tank for the trim is provided for lowering the hull body during boarding. Preferred Features: A ballast tank is arranged above each support in the center of flotation. Each ballast tank is independently filled and emptied.

Bei SWATH-Lotsenbooten ist der Rumpfkörper (10) relativ hoch über der Wasserlinie angeordnet. Die SWATH-Lotsenboote verfügen über ein großes Freibord. Beim Anlegen an einem Schiff (16) mit geringem Freibord kann es deshalb dazu kommen, daß die Befenderung des Lotsenbootes sich in Höhe irgendwelcher tragender Teilen oder der Reling (17) des Schiffes (16) befindet und diese Teile durch das Lotsenboot selbst bzw. dessen Befenderung beschädigt werden. Ferner kann sich das Lotsenboot in Teilen des Schiffes (16) verhaken. Zur Vermeidung dieses Problems ist deshalb erfindungsgemäß wenigstens ein Ballasttank (20, 21) zum Absenken des Rumpfkörpers (10) während des Übersteigens des Lotsens vorgesehen. Bei dem Ballasttank (20, 21) handelt es sich um einen gesonderten, von den Ballasttanks für den Trimm unabhängigen Ballasttank (20, 21). <IMAGE>
