[origin: EP1338418A1] The printing press has a plate cleaning roller (14), which can be pressed against the rotating plate cylinder (10) to apply a local cleaning action to the clamped printing plate (12). The cleaning roller has external bristles (16) which are structured to lie along only one axial section of the roller in each angular position. The cleaning roller is locked in a given angular position by a step motor (18). The cleaning bristles are in a spiral around the cleaning roller, with at least one full winding around the roller circumference.
