Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0922833A1] The safety support, e.g. for an adjustable ladder, consists of two poles (4, 5) with connectors (10) on their upper ends for engaging with one of the ladder rungs, and lower ends resting on the ground on opposite sides of the ladder and at some distance from it. The point where the upper ends of the two poles cross is fitted with a sliding coupling (13) with rollers and flanges to hold one pole and lugs to receive the other. The coupling also has an articulated base with a hole for a threaded rod used to fix the coupling in position. The poles are of adjustable length, having telescopic lower ends which are fixed by pegs through aligned holes.
