[origin: WO0246057A1] The invention relates to a valve (1) for a food conservation container (15), which can be closed in an air-tight manner. The valve (1) comprises a connecting device (9) for a vacuum pump so that the inner area (22) of the conservation container (15) can be emptied. The invention is characterised in that the connecting device (9) is embodied on an opening strap (7) of the valve (1), comprising one or more suction openings (17). A peripheral essentially smooth edge (18) for receiving a sealing lip of a suction connection of a vacuum pump is provided on the side of the opening strap (7) which is arranged in an outward facing manner. The invention also relates to a method for emptying a food conservation container (15). According to the invention, an additional appliance with a vacuum pump is incorporated onto a rod mixer or hand-mixer and a valve (1) is incorporated onto said conservation container (15). The emptying device does not necessarily have to be placed in the centre if the suction device which is to be used, particularly a device with a peripheral sealing lip, actuates as a suction cup. The above-mentioned suction device requires an essentially smooth suction surface in order that the suction power can be used to maximum potential when emptying the conservation container.
