Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0242542A1] The invention relates to a method and to a device for ironing garments (1) using a form finisher (3). In such a device, the garment (1) is drawn over an inflatable bag (2) of the form finisher (3). Said inflatable bag (2) is inflated by a current of air and is forced against the garment (1), thereby stretching and smoothing the garment. According to the prior art, the inflatable bag (2) is inflated to a larger extent in the area of the inflatable bag (2) that is not covered by the garment, whereby the garment (1) rides up and creases are formed in the seam and/or side seam. The invention is characterized in that the inflatable bag (2) is stretched downwards so that below the garment (1) no bulge is produced in the inflatable bag (2) any longer. Advantageously, the inflatable bag (2), in a bottom section (8) of its outer face, is provided with an area that has a higher frictional coefficient than the remaining part so that the garment, when the inflatable bag (2) is vertically stretched, is also vertically stretched.
