[origin: WO0244554A1] The invention relates to a method for the pneumatic ejection of fuel from a volume (22) in a fuel injection valve (1) for fuel injection units on internal combustion engines (10), said fuel injection valve (1), comprising a valve closing body (4), co-operating with a valve needle (3) and a valve seating surface (6) to give a sealing seat, downstream of which the volume (22) is embodied, comprising the following method steps: closure of the fuel injection valve (1), introduction of a gaseous medium into the volume (22) and pneumatic ejection of the fuel located in the volume (22). The downstream part of the fuel injection valve (1) is dried by the introduced gaseous medium.
