[origin: EP1340827A1] Casting alloy comprises (in wt.%) 7-25 silicon, 0.1-1.2 magnesium, 0.01-0.2 vanadium, 0.0005-0.01 beryllium, at most 1.2 iron, at most 5.5 copper, at most 1.2 manganese, at most 4 nickel, at most 2.5 zinc, at most 0.2 lead, at most 0.2 titanium, at most 0.1 other impurities, and a balance of aluminum. Preferred Features: The alloy contains (in wt.%) 0.05-1.2, especially 0.1-1.2 vanadium, 0.005-0.0035 beryllium, less than 1 magnesium, and not more than 10 ppm calcium.
