The intermediate layer (6) and the protective layer (7) are produced from the same solvent-containing starting material, with the intermediate layer (6) having a lower solvent content than the protective layer (7). The invention further relates to a method for producing such a component. It is especially advantageous to apply the intermediate layer (6) by spraying it onto the heated base (1) of the component, thereby increasing the voltage stability of the PTC thermistor.
