[origin: EP1342432A2] Chair comprises a support frame (1), a seat plate (6), and a back rest (5) provided with an arm (7) extending below the seat plate. The front end of the seat plate is supported by a spiral spring element (12) which forms one part of a bearing device (11) for the front end of the seat plate and is connected to the support frame in the region of one of its ends facing the back rest. A thrust bearing is formed by a guide surface (17) arranged on the support frame. A bearing part (16) or a further bearing part attached to the seat plate lies on the guide surface. The upper side (14) of the spiral spring element pointing downward toward the front of the chair and the guide surface are arranged at an angle to each other and run toward each other in the direction toward the rear end of the chair. In the upright position of the back rest the spiral spring element is pre-tensioned against the bearing part. Preferred Features: The spiral spring element is a plate spring assembly.
