Abstract (en)

Multi-color screen printing especially on glass or ceramics comprises providing at least 2 inks of a viscosity suitable for the screen mesh, setting the inks to a temperature close to the melting temperature but non-critical for the carrier material, applying the inks sequentially with a suitable screen and burning at least 2 of the ink layers. Multi-color screen printing, especially on glass or ceramics, comprises: (i) providing at least 2 inks of a viscosity suitable for the screen mesh, but allowing them to remain as a stable paste; (ii) setting the inks to a temperature close to the melting temperature but non-critical for the carrier material; (iii) applying the inks sequentially with a suitable screen superimposed or side-by-side or overlapping; and (iv) burning at least 2 of the ink layers. An Independent claim is also included for an ink set giving annealable multi-color screen printing directly onto surfaces (especially glass or ceramic) by subtractive mixing, the set comprising at least 2 printing inks with the same melting temperature range.
