[origin: EP1342889A1] An exhaust gas device comprises a catalytic exhaust gas converter with a housing (24), a catalyst body (60) held in the housing, and a feed pipe. A torsion producer is arranged in the feed pipe to expose a central flow path. The catalyst body has an inner region (64) and an outer region (66). The cell density of the flow channels in the inner region is more than in the outer region. Preferred Features: The inner region has the larger catalyst activity than the outer region. At least 40%, preferably 80% of the exhaust gas stream flows through the inner region of the catalyst body.
