[origin: WO0238420A1] A stop device (20) for releasably gripping an inertia reel seatbelt (58) provided in a motor vehicle including a body (22) being movable along and relative to the seatbelt (58) and the motor vehicle, a gripping member (24) pivotally joined to the body (22) so that an opening (54) is formed between the body (22) and the gripping member (24), the opening (54) is adapted to receive the seatbelt (58), a locking formation having associated first and second oppositely facing locking members (38,52), the first locking member (38) being provided on the body (22) and the second locking member (52) being provided on the gripping member (24), the first and second locking members (38,52) being adapted to releasably lockingly engage the seatbelt (58) to prevent movement of the body (22) relative to the seatbelt (58), while allowing movement of the body (22) relative to the motor vehicle.
