Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0248288A1] The invention concerns a method for hydrotreating a heavy hydrocarbon fraction in a first hydrodemetallation section, then in a second hydrodesulphurization section into which the effluent is made to pass from the first section. The hydrodemetallation section is preceded by at least a guard zone. Said hydrotreatment comprises the following steps: a) a step, wherein the guard zone is used; b) a step, during which the guard zone is shorted out and the catalyst it contains is regenerated and/or replaced; c) a step, during which the guard zone whereof the catalyst has been regenerated and/or replaced is re-connected; d) a step during which at least one of the reactors of the hydrodemetallation section and/or of the hydrodesulphurization section can be shorted out and the catalyst it contains regenerated and/or replaced.
