Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1344616A1] Edge strip (2) is trimmed from a continuous fabric (3) by a rotary cutter (6) and removed by a suction duct (10). Hinged, spring-loaded (27) feeler (15) is deflected if there is a region (33) where the strip has not been correctly cut so that is entrained with the fabric and is being pulled out of the suction duct (10). Feeler (15) is linked to a sensor (25) that provides a warning signal (30, 31) or stops the motion (32) of the fabric (3). Preferred Features: The position of the feeler (15) can be adjusted where it projects over the end of the suction duct (10). The sensor (25) can be an electrical switch, or an inductive or capacitance proximity switch. The suction duct (10) ends in a compressed air jet (12) that produces the suction.
