[origin: WO0239870A1] The invention relates to a device for improving the drying performance of a dishwasher which is fitted with at least one crockery basket and which is operated by means of cleaning programmes comprising a partial drying programme and a partial rinsing programme. According to the invention, means are adapted to an insert for receiving pieces of cutlery and/or small crockery, and are used to drain off drops of rinsing liquid from problem areas of the insert. Said means enable drops of liquid to drain off independently, and stop unwanted marks from forming on the pieces of cutlery and/or the small crockery during the drying process, resulting in an improved drying performance and a shorter drying phase compared to known devices. A particularly advantageous variation of the means relates to an insert comprising through holes (9) for the rinsing liquid, said through holes being defined by cross members (1, 2, 3, 4) which intersect each other at points of intersection (5, 6, 7, 8) in one plane. Said cross members are inclined in such a way that they respectively have a diamond-shaped cross-section. An alternative thereto involves the embodiment of the means as an insert, respectively comprising compartments (16, 17, 18) which are divided by separating walls (19, 20). At least two of said insert compartments (16, 17; 17, 18) comprise bottoms (16', 17', 18') which are arranged at various levels in order to adapt to various pieces of cutlery (14, 15) and/or small crockery.
