[origin: EP1346821A2] The distance-measuring system for a powder press (10) having at least one upper and lower plunger (20, 26) comprises at least two measuring arms (40, 42, 48, 50, 56) on opposite-lying sides which interact at the upper and lower plunger with a measuring ruler (44, 46, 52, 54). The results are put into a computer which compensates for an erroneous measurement variable on one measuring ruler using the second measuring variable on the other measuring ruler. Preferred Features: At least three measuring systems are arranged the same peripheral distance away from the upper and lower plunger.
