Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0249462A2] The invention relates to a fine cut unit pack for producing home-made cigarettes using a system consisting of a conventional cigarette paper wrap and a stuffing device with a plunger or with a loose, rod-shaped plunger that can be manipulated with free hands. Said unit pack comprises a tubular covering that consists of a not-smokeable film material that is smooth on the interior, open at both ends and that surrounds a fine cut tobacco filling. The inner diameter of the covering is slightly larger than the outer diameter of the plunger and the outer diameter of the covering is smaller than the inner diameter of the cigarette paper wrap. The covering is somewhat longer than the cigarette paper wrap to be filled. The stuffing density of the tobacco filling is lower than that of the desired stuffed cigarette. The fine cut unit pack consists of a fine cut tobacco filling and the covering, and has a coaxially extending glued seam and is produced on a conventional continuous cigarette-making machine. The inventive unit pack is further characterized in that the covering surrounding the tobacco filling is by at least 0.5 cm longer than the cigarette paper wrap to be filled and consists of a paper-lined printed aluminum foil whose coefficient of static friction measured on the inner face of the aluminum foil in accordance with DIN 53 375 is below 0.6 and whose coefficient of sliding friction ranges from 0.15 to 0.5. The stuffing density of the tobacco filling is at least 4 to 20 % below the value desired for the stuffed cigarette.
