Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0244001A1] To produce complementary compressed power-assist which only occurs at high braking levels, the invention provides in a brake booster unit a system to produce a power-assist effort pick-up (28, 33) additionally to the power-assist effort (25) normally applied by a reaction disc (24). The effort pick-up is produced preferably by a slide (26) containing an outer case (31) and a plunger (30) rigidly fixed to the first reaction device. The outer case is supported on a piston (23) of the air compressed power assist. The plunger is expelled from the envelope by a spring (34) whereof the displacement is countered by a pin (35) so long as the force applied by the driver is less than an intermediate force. When it is exceeded, the reaction of a braking hydraulic circuit downstream compresses the spring and produces the additional air compressed power-assist.
