[origin: WO02052282A1] The invention relates to a method for monitoring wheel speeds, comprising the following steps: determination of wheel speeds (S01); determination of the wheel having the maximum wheel speed (S02); determination of the wheel having the minimum wheel speed (S03); determination of the differential speed between the maximum wheel speed and the minimum wheel speed (S04) and comparison of the said differential speed with a threshold value (S05). If the differential speed is greater than that of the threshold value, the wheel having the maximum wheel speed is registered as the fastest wheel (S07) and the wheel having the minimum wheel speed is registered as the slowest wheel (S08). If the wheel speeds are modified in such a way that another wheel is the fastest wheel and/or another wheel is the slowest wheel, the fastest wheel is registered (S09) and the slowest wheel is registered (S10). A logical status is determined from the registered values and the real values (S11 - S21). The logical status can be used to indicate a possible sensor error when determining wheel speed. An error counter is incremented or decremented according to the status signal. The invention also relates to a device for monitoring wheel speeds.
