The mortar tube (1) has a portion of reduced outside diameter at the lower end with a male thread engaging a female thread on a cup or ground piece (2). This piece closes the end of the tube. The plain cylindrical end of the tube fits closely into the cup and the flat end of the tube (4). A cutout (5) in the inside of the end of the tube accommodates a U-section sealing ring (3) with the sides of the U (3.1) extending inward. When the mortar is fired, the gas pressure pushes the sides of the U more firmly against the end of the tube and the bottom of the cup.

Zur Abdichtung eines Mörserrohres wird vorgeschlagen, ein Dichtelement (3, 6) zwischen Rohr (1) und Bodenstück (2) einzubinden, welches die axiale Relativbewegung zwischen Rohr (1) und Bodenstück (2) durch elastische Verformung ausgleicht. Vorzugsweise ist das Dichtelement (3) vorgespannt, wobei die Dichtwirkung durch den Gasdruck unterstützt wird. Das Dichtelement (3, 6 ) kann ein U-förmiger oder L-förmiger Stahlring sein. Beim U-förmigen Dichtelement (3) werden die Schenkel (3.1) beim Verschrauben von Rohr (1) und Bodenstück (2) soweit axail vorgespannt, dass auch bei maximaler Relativbewegung zwischen Rohr (1) und Bodenstück (2) eine zur Abdichtung ausreichende Pressung zwischen Dichtring (3) und Rohr (1) bzw. Bodenstück (2) eingestellt ist. Beim L-förmig ausgebildeten Dichtelement (6), das mittels leichter Presspassung in das Rohr (1) bzw. Bodenstück (2) eingedrückt werden kann, wird über den inneren Schenkel (6.1) beim Zusammenschrauben von Rohr (1) und Bodenstück (2) die gasdichte Verbindung hergestellt. Beim Verschuß auftretende Längenänderungen zwischen Rohr und Bodenstück werden über Dichtlippen (6.2) des Dichtringes (6) in X- und Y- Achse elastisch aufgenommen. <IMAGE>
