[origin: EP1350720A1] The procedure for the packing of a stack (1) of packed goods having a flat top side and sidewalls entails the lowering of a horizontal plate (15) onto the stack until resting upon the top side (7). In the lowered position the plate on all sides reaches at least the upper edge (12) of the stacked goods. The lowering of the plate is carried out subsequent to the laying of a cover sheet (8) and before fixing of the edge (8a) of the cover sheet by means of packing film. An Independent claim is included for a packing device for a stack of packed goods with a flat top side and sidewalls which includes a plate and device to lower it onto the top side of the stack.
