[origin: EP1351349A1] The press (35) has a crimp device moveable along a predetermined path and a positioning unit (51) for lowering a grip arm (39) supplying the cable end to the device. The positioning unit is arranged in a handle (52), which is fixed to a tool holder (10). The positioning unit has a bar adjustable in vertical direction and automatically lockable and releasable from a number of positions along the predetermined path. An Independent claim is also included for a method of producing a crimping connection to connect a cable end with a crimping contact.
