Abstract (en)
The present invention relates to apparatus (101) for treating an exhaust gas stream from an internal combustion engine. The apparatus (101) includes a tubular compartment (102) containing a treatment element (110) through which a gas stream to be treated is to flow. The tubular compartment (102) is substantially surrounded by an annular compartment (4) and includes a tubular canister (42) including stopping means (46). A retainer (36) is releasably attached to the canister (42) by axial clamping means (24). The retainer (36) makes contact with an end of the treatment element (110) to secure it within the compartment (2) between the stopping means (46) and the retainer (36). <IMAGE>
