A buttonhole sewing machine includes a needle drivable via an arm shaft; table that is movable by respective drive in respective direction; and two work piece clamps having displacement drive and one of which includes a supporting plate for accommodating a work piece and a clamping plate that is mounted on the supporting plate. A buttonhole sewing machine includes a needle (7) drivable via an arm shaft (4); and an x-y table (8) that is movable by respective drive (9, 10) in respective direction; and two work piece clamps mounted for displacement one relative to the other. The work piece clamps comprise displacement drive for displacement from an initial position of spread into a final position of spread. The first work piece clamp has a supporting plate for accommodating a work piece and a clamping plate that is mounted on the supporting plate. The clamping drive actuates the clamping plate and supports itself on the supporting plate.

Die Nähgut-Klammer (13b) weist eine Stützplatte (11b) zur Aufnahme eines Nähgut-Teils (35) und eine an der Stützplatte (11b) gelagerte Klemmplatte (5) auf.
