[origin: WO02058852A1] The invention relates to a centrifuge with a spinning drum (1), a solid collecting chamber (2), arranged below the spinning drum (1) and a vibration measuring device for recording vibrations in the spinning drum (1). According to the invention, at least one probe (3) is fixed to the spinning drum (1) such as to extend beyond the underside thereof, which contacts with the medium (4) in the solid collecting chamber first, on a rising level occurring in the solid collecting chamber (2), such that before the contacting of the spinning drum (1) with the medium (4), non-critical vibrations are produced which may be recorded and evaluated by the vibration measuring device. Direct contact of the spinning drum (1) with the slowly rising medium (4) in the solids collecting chamber (2) can thus be prevented, which might lead to the production of unacceptably strong or large vibrations which could lead to the risk of destroying or damaging the centrifuge.
