Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0248777A2] The invention concerns an optical micro-actuator comprising a cavity (30) arranged between at least an input optical path (12, 12a, 12b) and at least an output optical path (14, 14a, 14b), the cavity being adapted to contain at least first and second optical fluids (32, 33, 34, 35), with different optical properties, and means for modifying the position of an interface between the first and second optical fluids relative to the optical paths. The invention is characterised in that the means for modifying the position of the interface comprise at least a chamber, containing at least a fluid, in fluid communication with the cavity, and means for modifying the volume of the chamber. The invention is useful for producing switches and optical crossconnects.
