[origin: EP1357384A2] The device has a magnet carrying arm with limited pivot range and coils around a shaft in which voltages are induced by flux from the arm, which can be rapidly pivoted to give adequate induction voltages at low revolution rates and has magnets at intervals along the shaft axis direction. Magnetic ring segments are arranged about the shaft. Segments with coils have sub-segments; the rest are whole. All segments are magnetically connected. The device has a shaft (1) on which is mounted a magnet carrying arm (5) with a limited pivot range and several coils (22-27) around the shaft in which voltages are induced by flux from the magnet carrying arm, which can be rapidly pivoted to achieve adequate induction voltages at low revolution rates. The arm has at least two magnets (7) at intervals along the shaft axis direction and magnetic ring segments (8-13) are arranged about the shaft. Ring segments with coils consist of sub-segments whereas the rest are whole segments. All segments are magnetically connected together.
